Sunday, 3 a.m.

For a dozen innings, they were mortal. Ordinary.

Then they were Giants.

Tied 1-1 in the fourth -- and after scoring just one run in the opener -- San Francisco was simply trudging along. And the bottom fell out for the Tampa Bay Rays, who were walloped in sn 11-2 loss.

The Giants touched Ryan Pepiot for four earned runs and Garrett Cleavinger for six in the cakewalk. Thairo Estrada had two home runs along the way.

Rays' catcher Ben Rortvedt pitched the final two innings for Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay had scored on Yandy Diaz' double play grounder and on a sacrifice fly by Rene Pinto.

The Rays and Giants close out their series today at 1:40 p.m. at Tropicana Field. Shawn Armstrong will open for Tampa Bay against former Ray Blake Snell.
