Interesting thing, desperation. No one wants to have to feel it. Everyone uses it as fuel.

Take the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have now lost three of four games since clinching the playoffs. Washington was simply a needier team on Saturday, scoring two third-period goals in a 4-2 victory.

The Bolts are still in control of the first wildcard spot, but their play is nowhere near as crisp as it had been in their recent hot streak.

The Bolts were tied 2-2 in the third period on goals by Anthony Duclair and Brandon Hagel. the Caps goals both came from Sonny Milano.

In the third, however, the Caps John Carlson and Nic Dowd scored for the win.

The Bolts are home at Amalie Arena on Monday night to face Buffalo.
