Morel leads Rays to second straight win

The Tampa Bay Rays, off to a frustrating start this season, pulled out their second straight extra inning game Thursday night. They rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks and win their first series since early April.

Christopher Morel drove in three runs, including a two-run homer in the 10th to nail down the victory. Junior Caminero had drive in the go-ahead run for the Rays on a double.

The Rays rallied from a 3-1 deficit and trailed 4-3 in the ninth. In the ninth, the team tied the game on singles by Chandler Simpson, Danny Jansen and Yandy Diaz. Diaz had three hits for the second straight night.

Tampa Bay’s bullpen pitched the last five innings and gave up just one hit. Edwin Uceta got the win and Pete Fairbanks got his fourth save.

Morel had two hits on the night.

The Rays open a three-game series against San Diego today at  9:40 p.m. Shane Baz will start for the Rays against Michael King.
