Yeah, it's been a while since the Tampa Bay Rays have offered up real competition to rest of the American League.
On their team, however, they've got an interesting little case of whatever-you-can-do-I-can-do-better going on.
Junior Caminero and Brandon Lowe continued their personal home-run derby battle in the Rays' 8-2 victory over the Athletics.
Caminero hit his sixth home run of the Rays' road trip in the ninth inning of the game. Lowe hit his fifth in the second. For the season, Caminero has 34 and Lowe 24. Together, they have 20 RBI on the trip,
It was a solid win for the Rays, who took a 6-0 lead before anyone was out in the second inning. They scored four runs on four hits in the first inning, and Lowe unloaded in the second.
For the Rays, Chandler Simpson, Yandy Diaz, Caminero and Ha-Seong Kim all had two hits.
Drew Rasmussen won his 10th game, working six innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run. The Rays' bullpen went three innings and allowed no runs and one hit.
The Rays are off today, then move to San Francisco for three games. Joe Boyle will start for the Rays against Landen Roupp.
