And a day later, it’s a different rear that’s getting spanked.
One day after trouncing the Boston Red Sox 16-1, the Tampa Bay Rays were on the wrong end of a clobbering. They lost 7-4 to the Boston Red Sox in a a solid thumping.
Boston’s Alex Bregman had five hits to lead the onslaught, including two home runs. In all, the Sox hit three homers. No team in the league has surrendered more than the 28 that the Rays have.

Ryan Pepiot had a rough start, giving up six earned runs in six innings of work.
The Rays were hitless in six at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Jonathan Aranda had two hits for the Rays to improve his average to .413. He drove in a ru with a homer. Kameron Misner had an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Taylor Walls drove in another with a groundout and Yandy Diaz singled in a run in the ninth.
The Rays and Sox wind up their three-game series today at 7:05 p.m. Zack Littell will start for the Rays. The Sox have not announced a starter.
