Finally, Shane Baz said “enough.”

After a miserable slide, Baz re-established himself as a strong option for the Tampa Bay Rays’ pitching staff Saturday. He went 5 2/3 innings and allowed just four hits and one run in a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Baz had started the season well, but in his last four outings, he had been awful. He had given up 30 hits and 21 runs in only 19 2/3 innings.

Saturday, he was very good, good enough to make Junior Caminero’s first-inning, three-run homer stand up. Caminero had entered the game on a three-for-20 streak.

Caminero’s homer was one of just three hits the Rays managed off Jose Berrios.

The Rays bullpen threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout baseball. Pete Fairbanks got his 10th save in the ninth inning.

The Rays tied Toronto for third place in the AL East, a half-game behind Boston.

Tampa Bay goes for the three-game sweep today against Toronto at 1:40 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field. Ryan Pepiot will start for the Rays against Chris Bassitt.
