Figures. Two nights removed from a 16-run game, on the heels of two games with 20 runs, the offense of the Tampa Bay Rays dried up again Wednesday night.

Despite their recent offense, the Rays were shut out, 1-0, by Boston. They managed just five hits — all singles. They struck out 13 times, were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

Seriously. Was this the same team that scored 16 times against Boston on Monday night?

The Rays had two men on in the first and fifth.

Zack Littell fell to 0-4, but it was perhaps his strongest start of the season.. Littell surrendered only a home run by David Hamilton. The home run was only 327 feet, but it was long enough to win the game.

The Rays open a four-game series against the Yankees tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field. Taj Bradley will start for the Rays against Will Warren.
