Alas, the poor Tampa Bay Rays. These days, they have plenty of nothing.

The Rays, still struggling, were shut out for the second time in three days by the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday, 3-0. It was the third time in 17 games, and the 10th overall, the Rays have been held scoreless.

The Rays, now three games under .500, had a couple of chances to score. They put runners on the corners with one out in the fifth, but Yandy Diaz popped out and Brandon Lowe struck out. The Rays loaded the bases in the ninth, but Diaz grounded out.

Joe Boyle started for the Rays and went five shutout innings, allowing just three hits.

Reliever Griffin Jax made his Rays’ debut and allowed one earned run in the eighth.

Freddie Freeman had three hits for the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani had two hits and walked twice.

For the Rays, Junior Caminero and Jake Mangum each had two hits.

The Rays travel to Anaheim to face the Angels  at 9:38 tonight. Adrian Houser will start for the Rays against Yusei Kikuchi.
