Call it the return of potential. Once again, you can feel good about the future of Joe Boyle.

Boyle, who struggled most of the summer, reminded Rays' fans that he has a bundle of ability. He threw six innings of shutout baseball Monday, allowing only three hits in a 2-1, 11-inning loss to Toronto.

The Rays started the game with back-to-back hits, but added only two more the next 33 outs. A double by Yandy Diaz in the first gave the Rays a 1-0 lead.

A sacrifice fly by Andres Gimenez tied the game in the eighth. A single by George Springer off of Kevin Kelly scored the winning run.

Diaz had three of the Rays' four hits and their only RBI.

The Rays and Blue Jays play again tonight at 7:35 p.m. Ryan Pepiot is scheduled to start for the Rays against Jose Berrios.
