On second thought, maybe these are Murderer’s Row.

The slugging Tampa Bay Rays, still making outfielders back up, were at it again Friday night. They wore out the No. 1 team in baseball, the Detroit Tigers, in a 14-8 victory. Just like that, they’re within 1 1/2 games of the New York Yankees, who have struggled lately.

It was the 10th time this season the Rays have scored at least 10 runs in a game. Yandy Diaz had two home runs (and three hits). Matt Thaiss had four RBI (and three hits). And the Rays scored multiple runs in four innings to jump the Tigers.

Curtis Mead, Taylor Walls and Kameron Misner all had two hits. Mead also had three walks.

Every player in the Rays’ lineup had at least one hit.

The Rays have the best record in the majors playing against teams above .500.

Riley Green had two homers and three hits to drive in four runs in a losing cause for Detroit.

Shane Baz upped his record to 7-3 with the victory.

The Rays were seven-for-13 with runners on scoring position.

The Rays and Tigers play again today at 12:10 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field. Ryan Pepiot will pitch for the Rays against Sawyer Gipson-Long.
