On a day the Tampa Bay Rays tinkered with their roster, perhaps they invited Shane Baz back into the wild card race.

Baz, who had lost eight straight decisions, had one of his better efforts in a 10-2 flogging of the Seattle Mariners. Baz threw six shutout innings and allowed just five hits. Baz is now 9-11 on the year.

The Rays won their fourth straight game and closed to within a game of .500.

It was lopsided win for the Rays, who had 13 hits, five of them with runners in scoring position.

Jake Mangum and Junior Caminero each had three hits for the Rays. Yandy Diaz and Nike Fortes each had two.

Fontes had a three-run homer in the second inning. Shortstop Tristan Gray hit a two-run shot in the eighth.

The Mariners finally scored on a two-run homer by Leo Rivas in the ninth.

Caminero drove in two runs, giving him 96 for the season.

The Rays waived Ha-Seong Kim, activated Richie Palacios and called up Kevin Kelly.

The Rays and Mariners play again tonight at 7:35 p.m. Drew Rasmussen will start for the Rays against Bryan Woo.
