It was wobbly at times. But when a team has nose-dived as fiercely as the Tampa Bay Rays have lately, wobbly beats the alternative.

After losing six of their previous seven games, the Rays edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-6 in 10 innings. It was Tampa Bay’s first road win of the season.

And to do it, all the Rays had to do was:

—Survive the bottom of the 10th. Rays’ reliever Eric Orze struggled throughout the inning with his control — walking two batters — but was bailed out on a double play. Had the Rays not completed the double play, the tying run would have scored. Instead, Orze picked up his first save.

— Broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the 10th inning with Kameron Misner doubled home Chandler Simpson. Simpson seemed to have tripled, but was called out when he left the bag and was tagged.

— Added an insurance run when Yandy Diaz doubled home Jonathan Aranda with the eventual winning run.

Overall, the Rays had 13 hits. Misner and Diaz each had three of them. Christopher Morel had two.

The Rays trailed 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 5-4 in the game.

Taj Bradley started for the Rays. He went six innings and gave up six hits and three runs.

The teams conclude their series tonight at 9:40 p.m. Drew Rasmussen will start for the Rays against Corbin Burnes.
