This, then, is what they mean by road kill.

The Tampa Bay Rays have had a lot of bad days this season. None of them could compare to this. The Rays gave up more runs than in any loss this year — 13. They gave up more hits — 19. They blew their 25th game lead of gythe season. They were swept.

Texas 13, Tampa Bay 2.

And if you want to hold your nose when you read about it, it’s okay.

The Rays couldn’t hit — they got five all day. They couldn’t get the Rangers out — all five pitchers gave up runs. The Rangers batted around in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring nine runs in those two at-bats. The Rays had 14 hits in three games.

Yeah, it was ugly.

Starter Nathan Eovaldi went seven innings and gave up just four hits for Texas. Rays’ starter Zack Littell, however, went just four innings and gave up nine hits and seven runs.

Believe it or not, the Rays led 2-1 after a home run by Jose Caballeros. It didn’t last long.

Wyatt Langford and Jonah Heim each had four hits for Texas.

How bad a day was it? The Rays made an out when the Rangers didn't make a play. In the seventh, Randy Arozarena hit a foul fly ball down the right field line. A Texas fan reached over and interfered with the ball. After meeting, the umpires called Arozarena out, saying that right fielder Travis Jankowski would have caught the ball.

The Rangers were 5-1 against the Rays this year, 4-2 last year.

The Rays are off today, then are home against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
