The odds of a winning season seem to be fading for the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Rays lost again Wednesday, falling 3-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies, who completed a sweep of the Rays. Tampa Bay is now four games under .500 on the season with 16 games to play.
The Rays lost this one on an infield single with two out by Weston Wilson in the sixth. His ball rolled down the third-base line and stayed fair.
The Rays fell behind 2-0 in the first inning on a home run by Nick Castellanos. Starting pitcher Shane Baz settled in and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing just three hits.
Tampa Bay tied the score on a single by Tyler Walls and a home run by Jonathan Aranda. But the Rays had only five hits on the day — same as the Phillies. They were one-for-nine with men in scoring position.
The Rays start a four-game series against Cleveland tonight at 7:15 p.m. Ryan Pepiot will start for the Rays against Gavin Williams.
