The Nothing Boys were at it again Sunday. Another day, another shutout.

The punchless Tampa Bay Rays were shut out for the third time in five games in a 4-0 loss to the New York Yankees. The Rays have now lost five of their last six.

The offense continued to struggle offensively. This time, they managed just two hits, an infield grounder by Chandler Simpson and a single up the middle in the eighth by Jake Mangum.

Simpson’s hit came in the sixth and was originally scored an error. It was changed to a hit two innings later, just before Mangum’s hit.

Ryan Pepiot wasn’t awful for the Rays. He threw six innings and allowed three runs. Two of the seven hits he allowed were home runs. Pepiot has given up nine homers this year, most in the major leagues.

As a team, the Rays have allowed a major league-worse 34 homers.

Max Fried improved his record to 4-0, going 7 2/3 innings.

The Rays are off today, then open a series in Arizona on Tuesday at 9:40 p.m. Zack Littell (0-4) will start for the Rays against Brandon Pfaadt.
