His numbers don’t excite you. His season started terribly.

Don’t look now, however. Zack is back.

Zack Littell won his sixth straight game Friday afternoon as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Miami Marlins 4-3. No, Littell didn’t get a complete game this time. But he went six strong innings and allowed just one run.

The Rays have now won Littell’s last eight starts. In his last six, he has a 2.79 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He threw just 72 pitches.

The Rays, too, are on a nice run. They’ve won 13 of their last 16 games. They withstood two more home runs against them (one given up by Littell, one by Edwin Uceta), but Pete Fairbanks closed out the ninth for his 12th save of the season.

Over their last 16 games, the Rays’ starters have an ERA of 1.81. The bullpen’s ERA is 2.28.

Junior Caminero continued his hot streak with two doubles. He’s now hitting .382 in his last 14 games with 16 extra base hits and 20 RBI.

Jonathan Aranda, Matt Thaiss, Curtis Mead and Taylor Walls all had two hits. Aranda also had two RBI.

The Rays and Marlins play again today at 4:10 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field. Taj Bradley will start for the Rays against Ryan Weathers.
