As long as the Tampa Bay Rays keep giving up long shots, they’re going to be long shots to get into the wild card race.

The Rays were trounced 6 -3 by the Baltimore Orioles Friday night. The O’s hit three home runs, and now have 98 on the season, leading the league. Baltimore has eight homers against the Rays in four games.

Ah, but that’s nothing new for the Rays, who have given up a league-leading 85 home runs.

This time, Baltimore hit three — by Anthony Santander, by Ryan Mountcastle and by Jordan Westburg.

The Rays came to within 4-3, but the O’s ran away late.

Randy Arozarena, Jose Siri and Taylor Walls all had two hits for the Rays. Walls was recalled Friday; the team designated Harold Ramirez for assignment.

The Rays were one-for-six with runners in scoring position.

The Rays and O’s play again today at 4:10 p.m. at Tropicana Field. Taj Bradley will start for the Rays against Kyle Bradish.
