Once again, the Tampa Bay Rays have been reminded of the risk of re-signing Chris Archer.
Archer, who missed 116 games earlier in the season, left Saturday's win over the Detroit Tigers, 7-1, after four innings because of "hip discomfort." Archer has been on the injured list in four straight seasons now.
The Rays had been hopeful that Archer could re-take his role in the rotation, but it is uncertain when he might be able to pitch again.

If that is a downer, especially on a day the Rays put Wander Franco on the 10-day injured list, then you could take comfort in the performance of reliever Dietrich Enns. Enns threw four no-hit, shutout innings to pick up his first major league win.
"He's been a guy who has come up here, back and forth and competed," said Rays' manager Kevin Cash. "He pitched really well for us, and tonight might have been the highlight. I’m glad he got a win. He did it really efficiently, with a lot of power. As good as fastball-cutter combination as we’ve seen. He really drove some fastballs in on that heavy right-handed lineup."
Said Enns: "I’m super happy I was able to go four (innings). Just getting ahead with the fastball and cutters and trying to put people away as fast as I could. It’s been my job. I doo that as best as I can. "
The Rays jumped to an early 3-0 lead and coasted. Joey Wendle had a triple and a home run, and Kevin Kiermaier had a double and a triple.
The Rays will play Detroit again today at 12:10 p.m. Luis Patino will pitch for the Rays against Tarik Skubal.
