Brown had another big night./KIM HUKARI

They didn't let Byrum Brown play much Thursday night. He started late, and he didn't last long.

But, man, was Brown good while he was in there.

Brown was at his best in USF's 55-23 walloping over the University of Texas-San Antonio. The Bulls improved to 7-2 on the season.

Brown didn't take the field until just over two minutes were left in the first quarter -- the Bulls' defense took a 14-0 lead on turnovers and kept him on the bench. And he sat out the final period with a huge lead.

In the middle, however, Brown continued to play like the Man the Heisman Convesrsation Forgot. He completed 14 of his 15 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns. He ran nine times for 109 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulls scored 45 points in the first half and 10 more in the third quarter. They didn't score without Brown in the fourth period.

Nykai Davenport gained 94 yards rushing on seven attempts. Keshan Singleton gained 122 receiving yards.

The Bulls took a 14-0 lead when Tavin Ward returned an interception 40 yards on the first play of the game. Later in the quarter, Jarvis Lee sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble, which Fred Gaskin returned 85 yards for a touchdown.

Lee had two of the Bulls' six sacks.

The Bulls play at Navy on Saturday, Nov. 15, at noon.
