For the second straight game, the Tampa Bay Rays have taken the best the National League has to offer and handled them.

This time, it was an 8-4 win over the Mets, who entered the series on a six-game winning streak and were 21 games over .500.

The Rays, too, are playing well, however. They’ve won 17 of their last 22 games.

Once again, the Rays had one huge inning on their way to win. On Friday night, it was a six-run sixth. Saturday, it was a five-run fourth. The Rays had four of their 13 hits in the inning, plus a walk, a hit batter, a wild pitch and an error in the outburst.

Over the last two games, the Rays have scored 15 runs and collected 25 hits in their wins over the Mets, who are 27-9 this season.

Drew Rasmussen wasn’t quite as sharp as normal. He gave up two homers and four earned runs in his five innings. The Rays’ bullpen, however, threw four innings of shutout baseball in getting the sixth win for Rasmussen.

Josh Lowe, Brandon Lowe, Yandy Diaz, Matt Thais and Taylor Walls all had two hits each for the Rays. Junior Caminero had his 16th home run of the season.

The Rays are now 38-32 on the season.

The Rays go for the sweep today at 1:40 p.m. Shane Baz will start for the Rays against Griffin Canning.
