The mid-season swoon of the Miami Hurricanes continued Saturday.

This time, it probably cost the Canes a shot at the national title.

Miami lost to SMU 26-20 in overtime in Dallas Saturday. Once again, turnovers by quarterback Carson Beck doomed the Canes.

Beck, who threw four interceptions in a loss to Louisville, tossed two more against the Mustangs. The last of those was thrown Ahmaad Moses in Miami's only overtime possession.

SMU, which rushed for minus two yards in regulation time, ran the ball six times for the winning score.

UM held a 20-17 lead late, but were done in by a dead-ball personal foul on a fourth-and-nine play. UM had called a time out, but during the play stoppage, the Canes roughed quarterback Kevin Jennings.

Jennings threw for 365 yards in the upset. Jordan Hudson caught 11 passes for 136 yards for SMU.

Beck threw for 274 yards, but had the two picks.

UM plays at home against Syracuse Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Georgia 24, Florida 20: Did he catch it? Did it graze the turf first?

It was a game effort by Florida trying to upset the fifth-ranked team in the nation Saturday, falling just short to the Georgia Bulldogs in the second half.

The Gators were trying to retake the lead with 3:16 to play when D.J. Lagway's pass to J. Michael Sturdivant was ruled to have hit the turf. Replays, however, left the ruling uncertain, leaving the Gators 3-5 on the season. Officials upheld the call of an incompletion.

It was Florida's first game under interim coach Billy Gonzalez, who replaced the fired Billy Napier.

Florida receiver Eugene Wilson III caught nine passes for 121 yards. Zachariah Branch caught 10 passes for Georgia for 112 yards.

Florida travels to play Kentucky Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

FSU 42, Wake Forest 7: Not since their opening win over Alabama have the Seminoles looked as strong.

The Seminoles overwhelmed Wake to take their first conference win and improve their record to 4-4.

Quarterback Tommy Castellanos hit 12 of 16 passes for 271 yards, and the Seminoles ran for five touchdowns to smother the Deacons.

FSU got 148 receiving yards from Duce Robinson, who caught five passes. Samuel Singleton ran for 91 yards.

FSU travels to play Clemson Saturday night at 7 p.m.
