As the kick went wide right, sailing harmlessly on the wrong side of the goalline, there was plenty of time to reflect on how it all slipped away.
The USF Bulls blew a 31-17 lead in the fourth quarter to lose only their second game of the year, this one to Memphis. The final was 34-32, and it dampened the Bulls' long-range goals significantly.
Oh, it wasn't just Nico Gramatica's missed 53-yard field goal. It was the holding penalty that pushed the Bulls back 10 yards before the kick.
What else? Oh, how about the decision to skip a field goal try for a knockout touch in the third quarter wehn Byrum Brown threw incomplete. It was the second time the Bulls went for it on fourth down and failed.
How about a low snap on the kick?
Then there was the defense, which gave up a 75-yard touchdown drive, an 81-yard field goal drive and a 70-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
