Once again, the FSU Seminoles tried to come from behind.
This time, however, their best receiver bobbled the ball as he ran through the end zone.
That left eighth-ranked FSU on the short end of a 46-38 loss to Virginia in double overtime Friday night.
The Seminoles, who upset Alabama earlier in the year, were looking to go into next week's game against Miami unbeaten. But Virgina constantly kept FSU under pressure.
The Seminoles tied the game with 36 seconds to play on an 11-yard pass from Tommy Castellanos on fourth-and-goal. Castellanos seemingly did it again in double-overtime, but Duce Robinson bobbled the ball as he entered the end zone. Officials ruled he was still bobbling the ball when he ran out of the back end.
The Cavaliers took leads of 14-0, 28-21, 35-28 and the final score. Quarterback Chandler Morris ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more.
Castellanos threw for 254 yards and ran for 78. But he also threw two interceptions and FSU lost a fumble.
Robinson caught nine passes for 147 yards.
The Seminoles are home Saturday againt Miami.
