The home runs were notable. The result, however, was predictable.

The Tampa Bay Rays thrilled fans early with back-to-back home runs that fans have been waiting to see. After that, there wasn't much to see in a 4-2 loss to Toronto.

The Rays are now 77-83 with two games left in the season.

The Rays got second-inning homers off Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda. For Caminero, it was his first homer in nine games and his 45th of the season. It brought Caminero within one of Carlos Pena's franchise record.

For Aranda, it was a return from a broken wrist that had kept him out since July 29. It was his 13th of the season.

After that inning, however, the Rays had only three hits. The Rays were zero-for-five with runners in scoring position. In the ninth, Yandy Diaz grounded out to third with Josh Lowe on third and Chandler Simpson on second.

The Blue Jays took a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning when Nathan Lukes hit a two-run homer.

Adrian Houser went six innings on the mound for the Rays. He finished with an 8-5 record. He was 2-3 with the Rays.

The Rays and Jays play again at the Rogers Centre today at 3:07 p.m. Joe Boyle will start for the Rays against Trey Yesavage.
