After two weeks of playing with the big boys, here's what the USF Bulls got as a reward.
The bigger boys.
The Bulls, who had impressed most onlookers with upset wins over Boise State and Florida, were brought back to reality Saturday night. No. 5 Miami overwhelmed the Bulls in a 49-12 route.
USF simply wasn't able to hang with the Canes, who totaled 576 yards in their win.
Quarterback Carson Beck hit 23 of 28 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns. If that wasn't impressive enough, Mark Fletcher ran for 121 yards and two scores. And if that wasn't enough, Keelan Marion caught six passes for 81 yards and Malachi Toney caught six passes for 66.
USF, meanwhile, ran for just 40 yards. Quarterback Byrum Brown, usually one of the Bulls' leading rushers, had only two yards on 13 carries.
Brown did have 274 yards passing, hitting 20 of 26 passes and a touchdown.
Miami, perhaps with an eye on climbing in the polls, kept the pedal down. It was 28-6 at the half and 35-6 after three periods.
USF is home against South Carolina State on Saturday. Miami is home against Florida.
LSU 20, Florida 10: Things are getting worse for the Florida Gators.
Florida lost again Saturday, falling to LSU after a sloppy performance. The Gators have scored just 26 points in the last two games.
Quarterback D.J. Lagway threw five interceptions -- tied for second most in Gators' history -- in the loss. Lagway had 287 yards, but the Gators ran for just 79 yards.
LSU had 220 yards passing from Garrett Nussmeier. Caden Durham had 93 yards rushing, including a late 51-yard run to sew up the game.
Florida will visit Miami on Saturday.
