The last thing anyone wants to do is get into a home-run-derby with the New York Yankees.
The Yankees, a very good club in most things but terrific at hitting the long ball, cranked it up in a 10-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The Yanks hit five home runs in their win, leading to nine runs.
Jose Trevino hit two homers in the assault to take the series. Aaron Judge, Gleybar Torres and Jahmai Jones also homered.
The Yankees jumped ahead 6-0. The Rays came back to within a run on a grand slam by Jose Siri in the seventh.
Tampa Bay came to within 6-5 and had the bases loaded, but couldn’t keep pace with the Yankees.
The Rays got two hits from Richie Palacios. Yandy Diaz also homered for the Rays.
The Rays are at Fenway Park tonight at 7:10 p.m. to play the Red Sox. Zach Eflin will start for the Rays against Kutter Crawford.
