One of the most-often repeated observations of Jon Cooper is this: It isn't how many shots a goaltender stops. It's when.

Take Wednesday night's 4-2 victory by the Lightning over Detroit at Benchmark International Arena.

Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was superb in the third period of the game as he protected a 3-2 lead against a furious Detroit push. Three times, the Pistons were on a power play in the third.

Vasilevskiy ran his record to 7-3, stopping 19 of 21 shots.

The Bolts are now 7-0 on home ice.

Brayden Point scored two goals in the first period. Anthony Cirelli added anohter in the second period to make it 3-0. Ryan McDonaugh scored an empty-netter as the final horn sounded.

Nikita Kucherov had two assists.

The Bolts are home against Chicago on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Benchmark International.
