As it so happens, the USF Bulls don’t need Byrum Brown in order to win.

The Bulls snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday with a 35-25 victory over the UAB Blazers. Granted, it was the sixth straight loss by the Blazers. On the other hand, UAB ran up 56 points against USF a year ago.

USF, 3-4 on the season, pulled out the game with a 15-point fourth quarter. They won behind backup quarterback Bryce Archie, who threw for two touchdowns.

UAB’s Jalen Kitna threw the ball 56 times for 384 yards.

USF made the big plays late, however. Sean Atkins set up a score with a 54-yard punt return. Running back Kelley Joyner closed out the game with a 33-yard touchdown run.

Joyner had 94 yards rushing. Receiver Keshaun Singleton caught four passes for 105 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown.

The Bulls trailed 19-7 at one point before rallying.

USF travels to play Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Miami 52, Louisville 45: Cam Ward continued to build what may be a Heisman Trophy-winning season Saturday.

Ward threw for four more touchdowns and another 319 yards as the Canes held off Louisville, 52-45. Ward led Miami to 538 total yards.

The Canes struggled to shake Louisville, which stayed close for most of the afternoon.

Xavier Restrepo caught nine passes for 101 yards for Miami.

Miami is home against FSU on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Florida 48, Kentucky 20: The wheel is in D.J. Lagway's hands. From the looks of it, he'll be able to steer it just fine.

Lagway, replacing the injured Graham Mertz, was sensational in an easy win over Kentucky. Lagway threw for 259 yards on just j seven completions.

Florida got 106 yards rushing from freshman Jadan Baugh and 149 yards receiving from Elijah Badge in the big win.

The Gators play Georgia in Jacksonville Saturday at 3:30 pm.

Duke 23, FSU 16: The Blue Devils snapped a 22-game losing streak against FSU. That’s how bad the season has gone for FSU, which is 1-6 on the season.

Since FSU went to backup quarterback Brock Glenn because of injury, the Seminoles offense has dried up. FSU gave up a first-quarter interception return for a score to contribute to the loss.

FSU visits Miami on Saturday night.
