From the looks of it, Andrei Vasilevskiy still has some winning to do.
One game after winning his 300th career game (the fastest in history to do it), Vasilevskiy pitched a shutout of the New Jersey Devils in a 4-0 victory. It was the 36th shutout of his career.
Vasilevskiy stopped all 20 shots —- giving him 53 saves in 54 attempts over the last two games against the top two scoring teams in the NHL. Vasilevskiy has a .913 save percentage and a 7-5-1 record on the season.
“It speaks volumes about Vasilevskiy to shut the door like he did tonight,” said Lightning coach Jon Cooper. “I’m pleased with the way we”re playing defense. We’re defending the way you should defend, with numbers. The problem is when we’ve turned the puck over and not managing the puck. That can make you uncomfortable. It all stems from not giving up freebies.”
Nick Paul scored a first-period goal to give the Bolts a 1-0 lead. In the third period, Darren Raddysh scored his first goal of he eyyearar. Victor Hedman scored on a power play and Anthony Cirelli scored on an snotty netter when the Devils’ Jack Hughes threw his stick at the puck.
Nikita Kucherov had two assists, giving him 899 points for his career.
