His eyes on history, Fisher deserves a raise

There is a reason why Florida State is in a hurry to throw money at Jimbo Fisher before the national championship playoffs.

If it waited, heck, it might not be able to afford him.

It is amazing how quickly that Fisher has climbed the ladder of NCAA coaches to get among the top two or three men currently blowing a whistle. Two years ago, Fisher was just some guy walking in a legend's shoes, and if you're honest, you hadn't quite made up your mind about him.

These days? These days Fisher has his program humming, and he has trophies coming, and by golly, he just might be the smartest guy in the room.

Granted, the Seminoles have taken on a Raideresque quality to the Seminoles this year. There have been so many incidents, so many headlines, that FSU has become the most vilified team in the NCAA. But that's part of Fisher's success, too. He's overcome all of the controversies, and he's kept his team focused, and the team has now won 29 straight games.

So, yeah, Fisher deserves a better contract.

At this point, would anyone say no?
