It wasn’t the prettiest assault, but the Tampa Bay Rays finally pieced together a big inning Sunday.
The Rays pieced together a four-run sixth inning that quickly turned into a nightmare for the Colorado Rockies. Tampa Bay held on for a 6-4 victory and a win in the team’s opening series of the season.

The Rays pieced together two infield hits, a fielder’s choice and three errors by the Rockies in their big inning.
Junior Caminero broke a 2-2 tie with an infield single up the middle. Jose Caballero had a bunt single and Ben Rortvedt had a grounder to third to bring in another run.
Pete Fairbanks closed out the game for his first save of the year. In two Rays’ wins, Fairbanks has a save and a win.
Taj Bradley got the win, spreading five hits across six innings. He had seven strikeouts.
Brandon Lowe had a two-run homer for the Rays in the second inning.
The Rays play host to Pittsburgh tonight at 7 p.m. Drew Rasmussen will start for the Rays against Carmen Miodzinski.
