This time, the Rays scored first, getting two hits in the first inning. They would get only two more the rest of the night.
Jonathan Aranda drove in the Rays only run with a groundout with the bases loaded.
Tyler Alexander, who took a perfect game into the eighth inning in his last outing, had a rough game. He came into the game in the third and pitched five innings. The Royals touched him for eight runs and 11 hits.
The Royals’ Seth Lugo improved his record to 8-1.
The Rays' offense continued to struggle. Friday night, the Rays started Brandon Lowe (hitting .146), Aranda (.200), Randy Arozarena (.159), Alex Jackson (0.36) and Jose Siri (.168).
