That’s the thing about offense. Often, it is the last place you would look for it.

Consider, if you will, Taylor Walls. Walls, who entered the game hitting .111, laced a two-run triple in the sixth inning. After his hit, the offense lit it up, scoring nine times in their last three at-bats, to roll to an 11-3 win over Seattle. Walls had three hits for the night.

Eleven runs was the most the Rays have scored all season.

Were you impressed? Catcher Ben Rortvedt was. Rortvedt came up one batter after Walls and immediately launched a two-run homer to right field. Rortvedt would later knock in two more  for a four-RBI night.

The Rays have now won seven of their last nine games. They’ve scored  55 runs in the streak. They’re now 40-40 for this season.

The Rays got homers from Yandy Diaz (on the first pitch of the game) and Isaac Paredes (his 12th of the year). Diaz now has hits in 18 games in a row.

The Rays had 11 hits and six walks in the game.

Tampa Bay, once again, gave up the long ball. The Rays have now allowed a league-most 111 homers.

Rays’ starting pitcher Zack Littell went 5 1/3 innings. Garrett Cleavinger came in to get the win. He’s now 5-1 on the season.

The Rays and Mariners play today at 12:10 p.m. Ryan Pepiot will start for the Rays against George Kirby.
