Cash tied for most Rays’ managerial wins

Saturday, 4 a.m.

At this point, perhaps you want to roll your eyes and think “Even when the Tampa Bay Rays win, it feels like a war.”

Well, imagine how Kevin Cash must feel.

But they won.

The way things have been going, it’s a start.

For Cash, it was a victory that lifted him into a tie with Joe Maddon for the most wins (754) in team history.

Cash was helped with some reinforcements. Outfielder Johnny DeLuca drove in three runs in his first game. New catcher Alex Jackson added an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

But familiar faces played a part, too. Yandy Diaz drove in two runs with two singles, and Randy Arozarena hit a 445-foot home run.

Harold Ramirez and Amed Rosario each had three hits for the Rays.

The teams play again tonight at 7:15 p.m. at Tropicana Field. Zach Littell will start for the Rays against Christian Scott.
