Sunday, 12:10 a.m.

There he was, the man who is not Buster Posey, having a party.

He grinned and he gestured, and he waited for the teammates who flooded toward him.

He had waited so long for a night like this, so long for a moment to declare that maybe there was something special about being Tim Beckham, too. But for years, Beckham was known only as the guy the Rays dared to take over Buster Posey, the guy who struggled along in the minors while Posey was becoming a star.

Even Saturday night came with a bit of a wait. He had been hitless in his last 13 at-bats, and he had never had a game winning hit.
