Saturday, 4 a.m.

On his worse days, the ones where he is hurt, or weary, or ailing, Brayden Point is a fine hockey player.

The rest of the time, he is sensational. Especially at the biggest of moments.

Point struck again Friday night. Once again, with the score tied, in overtime, on a power play, Point found the net for the winning goal to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 overtime goal.

It was the 12th overtime goal of Point’s career (598 games). Mind you, Point is still just 28. Of the 33 players who have scored as many overtime goals, only Austen Matthews (who also has 12) has done it in fewer games.

Point scored his 16th goal of the season 61 seconds into overtime on a pass from Nikita Kucherov (who got his 22nd assist). He also ended as 3-2 win over Pittsburgh in overtime 10 days ago.

(Point also has eight assists in overtime).

“It was a great play by Kuch behind the net, and pointer in tight…I don’t know if there is anybody better,” said Lightning coach Jon Cooper. I’ve seen him do that a tone.

Steven Stamkos, who now plays for Nashville, is the Bolts’ all-time leader with 13 overtime goals.

The Bolts improved their record to 12-8-2 with the win.

Scoring in regulation for the Bolts were Brandon Hagel (his 10th) and Anthony Cirelli, who has eight goals in his last eight games. Cirelli scored a shorthanded goal.

Defender Roman Josi scored both goals for Nashville.

Lightning backup goalie Jason Johansson stopped 28 of 30 shots to improve his record to 2-1-1 on the season.

The Bolts play at home tonight against Toronto at 7 p.m.
