Lightning wins big comeback over Buffalo

January 1, 2020 general

Tuesday, 4 a.m. The latest victory by the Tampa Bay Lightning won’t win any beauty contests. The Lightning started slow, and it dug itself a hole that seemed hard to climb out of. It was behind Buffalo by three goals before it ever got rolling. But the Bolts won their fourth straight game with a […]

Looking back on the Bucs loss to the Falcons

December 31, 2019 general

Tuesday, 4 a.m. 5 Thoughts Isn’t it interesting that the thought of re-signing Jameis Winston is the “win now” option. Winston has won 28 of 70 games. Wouldn’t that be “win someday…maybe?” 2. I found it amusing that Mark Dominik, former General Manager in charge of Oops, is giving Jason Licht advice on where to […]

Perine leads Gators to Orange Bowl win

December 31, 2019 general

Tuesday, 3 a.m. For most of the season, he was just another guy for the Florida Gators. Another face in the team photo. Another piece of the puzzle. Then came the Orange Bowl. And Lamical Perine became a star. Perine led the Gators in rushing this season (they were last in the SEC), but he […]

December 27, 2019 general

Friday, 4 a.m. The post-season has no use for him. Not the Pro Bowl, which he has made just once. Not the playoffs, where he has yet to appear. Yet, around here, Lavonte David remains an honored warrior. The truth is, David may be the most beloved player to be so underappreciated in the history […]

Sports has been a timeline for Christmas

December 26, 2019 general

Thursday, 4 a.m. This one should be in the bag, right? Beat the Atlanta Falcons? Heck, the Bucs have already beaten the Atlanta Falcons. At their place. When the Bucs were 3-7. They won by 13, and they were ahead by 19 with two minutes left to play. So what’s the big deal in doing […]
