Ah, but there are days when Brandon Lowe reminds the Rays just what he can mean to their lineup.
Lowe drove in five runs with a homer and a double Tuesday night to lead the Rays to a 9-5 victory over the Miami Marlins. The win brought the Rays (30-31) to within one game of .500.

Lowe, hitting just .186 coming into the game, has hit .333 in his last eight games. Still, he came into the game with eight RBI in his 20 games.
Closer Pete Fairbanks pitched his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning with two strikeouts and a weak groundout. It was his seventh save.
Starter Ryan Pepiot gave up three runs in the first inning on four hits. But afterward, he gave up only one more hit in a six-inning outing.
For the Rays, Amed Rosario had three hits. Yandy Diaz, Lowe and Isaac Paredes all had two hits.
The Rays play hte Martins again tonight at 6:40 p.m. Zach Eflin will start against Braxton Garrett.
