5 Thoughts
- There are a lot of things that the quarterback rating doesn’t measure — scrambles, weather, comebacks, drops — but there are a lot that it does. It’s a good thing that Baker Mayfield was perfect Sunday. As of now, he’s the Bucs’ very own Nadia Comaneci. Same size, too.
2. If I’m Devin White, I’m starting to think I’m not going to get that fat raise from the Bucs, after all. Not after waking up Sunday and turning into Antonio Brown.
3. Just saying: there may come a time when the Bucs desperately need 1.8 yards for a first down. That’s when they’ll miss Ke’Shawn Vaughn.
4. I read where Trevor Lawrence may miss Sunday’s Bucs-Jags game with a concussion. I don’t buy it. Lawrence isn’t going to miss a shot at these cornerbacks — Toast and Bagel — if he can help it.
5. Tony Dungy was fired after a season in which he lost just seven games. Jon Gruden was fired after a season in which he lost just seven games. If I’m Todd Bowles, I feel better, but I’m not buying green bananas.
Game Balls
Offense: Chris Godwin was terrific. Rachaad White was excellent. But Baker Mayfield was perfect.
Defense: Lavonte David had nine tackles, a half-sack and two tackles for losses.
Special teams: Kicker Chase McLaughlin was perfect, too.
Grades

Wide receivers: Plenty of output, especially by Godwin. Grade: A-.

Kicking:: What more can you ask? Grade: A+.
