Glasnow struck out 14./TIM WIRT

Thursday, 4 a.m.

He is better than he was. He is healthier than you feared. He is more explosive than you dared to hope.

He is Tyler Glasnow, and he is a star once again.

Glasnow, the Rays' surgically-repaired pitcher, was at his best Thursday night. He went six innings, and he struck out 14 batters, to lead the Rays to a. 3-1 win over the Boston Red Sox.

It was tied for the most strikeouts that Glasnow has had in a game. It is the most wins (8) he's had in any seasons. It's the most decisions he's had.

So who would have thought that September would come, and Glasnow would be the healthiest pitcher on the staff?

Over their three games against Boston, Rays’ pitchers struck out 47 batters.

The Rays didn't have a lot of offense in their win, but Glasnow made sure they didn't need it. The Rays got a two-out homer from Brandon Lowe, a two-out homer from Isaac Paredes and a two-out double from Harold Ramirez.

The Ray have now won seven of their last eight series.

Tampa Bay opens a four-game series tonight at 6:40 p.m. game against Seattle. Zack Littell will start for the Rays against Luis Castillo.
