At FSU, they are convinced. Their backup quarterback is better than their rival’s backup quarterback.

The Seminoles remained undefeated Saturday night, coming from behind to beat the Florida Gators, 24-15. Both starting quarterbacks of the school missed the game with injuries.

Tate Rodemaker threw for 154 yards in the win. Florida’s Max Brown passed for just 86 yards.

Trey Benson ran for 97 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Seminoles.  Montrell Johnson ran for 107 yards for the Gators, who finished their season 5-7.

FSU is one of four unbeaten teams left after Ohio State fell to Michigan on Saturday. They still have to get past Louisville in the conference title game on Saturday.

USF 48, Charlotte 14,  Does anybody want to buy this bowl team?

For the first time since 2018, the Bulls became bowl eligible Saturday night with a 48-14 dismantling of the Charlotte 49ers,.  But being eligible isn’t the same as being invited.

Look at the schedule This year, the Bulls beat Florida A&M, Rice,  Navy, UConn, Temple and Charlotte. None of them have a winning record. Among their losses were one in which they gave up 59 to Memphis, 56 to Florida Atlantic and 56 to Alabama-Birmingham.

Ah, but on Saturday night, the Bulls looked like they’re a team approaching progress. Quarterback Byrum Brown threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns. He ran for 43 more yards and scored a fifth touchdown on the ground. They were fun, they were fast.

Michael Dukes ran for 104 yards for the Bulls.

Charlotte used two quarterbacks, but neither threw for more than 100 yards.
