In the history of college football in Florida, there have been some great afternoons.
National championship afternoons. Heisman Trophy afternoons, Bowl wins and No. 1 draft picks, All-Americans and coaching legends.

Then there was Saturday.
And ouch.
The athletic programs of Florida schools can share bandages today. It was a lost afternoon for a largely lost season (except for Miami). The best thing you can do about Saturday is to forget it.
Miami, the lone program having a great year, lost. Florida was clobbered. FSU was clobbered. USF was clobbered.
You wanna throw confetti? Move somewhere else.
Georgia Tech 28, Miami 23: This time, there was no great escape for the Hurricanes.
Miami, which had come from double-digit deficits to win three games this season, couldn’t rally against Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes, ranked fourth in the country, fell behind 21-10 and were unable to come back.
Heisman candidate Cam Ward threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns, but he fumbled away the Canes’ last shot. Tech ran for 271 yards against Miami.
UM fell to 9-1 on the season They are home on Saturday against Wake Forest.
Navy 28, USF 7: Backup quarterback Bryce Archie, who had done a nice job filling in for injured Byrum Brown, struggled against Navy as the Bulls fell to 4-5.
Archie threw two interceptions and fumbled once as the Bulls fell. Archie did throw for 281 yards.
Navy rushed for 271 yards in the lopsided win.
USF is home against Charston Southern on Saturday.
Texas 49, Florida 17: The Gators might want to reconsider that vote of confidence they gave to coach Billy Napier this week.
The Gators fell to 4-5 against No 5 Texas. Both No. 1 quarterback Graham Mertz and No. 2 D.J. Lagway missed the game.
Texas’ Quinn Ewers threw for five touchdowns for the Horns. He threw for 333 yards.
Texas took a 35-0 lead and coasted.
Florida’s Ja’Kobi Jackson had 116 yards rushing.
Florida is home on Saturday against LSU.
Notre Dame 52, FSU 3: The Seminoles fell to 1-9 with their one-sided loss to the Irish. But none of the other losses have been this ugly.
FSU trailed just 7-3 after one period, but the Irish scored 45 straight points.
FSU had just 89 yards passing,
The Seminoles are home against Charlotte on Nov. 23.
