Kevin Cash, the new guy to blame, stood on a small platform behind the batting cage, trying to see tomorrow from his perch. This is his team now, for all that is and for all that it might not be. Just call him Ray.

For the first time since 2006, a man other that Joe Maddon made out a Rays ' lineup on Thursday. For the first time since 2006, a man other than Maddon pointed his kids toward the field and turned them loose. For the first time since 2006, a man other than Maddon was in charge of the scoreboard.
