THURSDAY, 4 A.M.
For 57 minutes and 32 seconds, the Lightning lacked enough offense to compete.
And then the Bolts found the energy to knock off the Edmonton Oilers, 2-1 in overtime at Benchmark International.
The Bolts, 11-7-2, played most of the game with a 1-0 deficit. Tampa Bay got off 35 shots, but for the most part, they couldn't get the puck past Oilers' goalie Calvin Pickard.
That changed late. Nick Paul, playing his first game of the season, scored to tie the game with 17:28 left.
That forced overtime, where Jake Guentzel scored on a breakaway 1:43 into the extra period.
The Bolts play the Capitals on the road Saturday night at 7 p.m.
