The Lightning took another backward step Saturday night, losing 3-2 in a shootout to a Buffalo team that is fighting to stay out of the Atlantic Division cellar. It was the second straight loss for the Bolts, their 19th loss of the year (against 17 wins) on the road.

The Bolts blew a 2-1 third-period lead in the loss.
The Sabres scored on two of their three shootout attempts. The Bolts did not score in the shootout.
Brayden Point scored his 39th goal to give the Bolts a 1-0 lead, and Gage Goncalves made it 2-1 in the second. Buffalo peppered backup goalie Jonas Johanssen with 38 shots before their success in the overtime. Jack Quinn and Alex Tuch scored shootout goals for the Sabres.
The Bolts are at the Rangers on Monday night at 7 p.m.
