For a team with the No. 1 pick, the idea of trading down sounds smart and safe. But in this draft, without Anthony Munoz or Bruce Smith, would it be the good thing to do. If a team believes in a quarterback, isn’t that where the value is?

You never pass up a player you have rated as "special,'' regardless of position.

Having more picks doesn’t necessarily make you better; if the picks aren’t ‘special’. Special players can alter the outcome of a game, average ones can't.
