Thursday, 2 a.m.

There in the dying seconds, the shot didn't go their way. Neither did the tip.

That, for the USF Bulls, was the story of the night. In the big moments, nothing fell, and the Bulls lost to East Carolina, 67-65.

USF had a chance at the end. Terrence Samuel missed a field goal, and
Isaiah Manderson missed a tip in. It was the third straight loss for USF, which fell to 7-9.

"Number-wise offensively, other than the turnovers, if we shoot 46 percent, 53 from the three, 83 from the line and outrebound a team, we're going to be in good shape," said USF coach Brian Gregory. players. Tyson is going to end up as maybe the all-time leading scorer in our league. We've got to do a better job on him."

Stephan Jiggetts scored 18 points for the Bulls. Samuel Bentley had 15.

For East Carolina, Kentrell Bentley had 16 points and B.J. Tyson had 14.

"I'm disappointed but obviously not discouraged," Gregory said. "You've just got to keep getting better. We've had some good basketball from some guys. I think the freshmen are playing well. It's good to get Payton out there, obviously very limited, but that will bode well down the road for us."

USF travels to play Wichita State at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
