Turns out, the Tampa Bay Lightning will not go unbeaten the rest of the season.
The Bolts, who had won seven straight gamess and 15 of their previous 28, saw their streak end at the hand of the New York Islanders, 2-1, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y.
Tampa Bay scored just once, a third-period goal by Dominic James The Bolts got off 30 shots, but gave up goals to Bo Horvat and Anthony Duclair.
Ilya Sorokin stopped 29 of 30 shots.
"I th;ought we played pretty well, to be honest," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "You find a team that goes 82-0, I want to see that team. The puck didn't go in for us. I can't fault our effort. The bounces ran out for us. If we're going to give that effort, I take that from this team."
For the Lightning, Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 21 of 23 shots.
The Lightning remain in first place in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
The Bolts return home to face Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. at Benchmark International.
