Bama runs away from USF scare

Sunday, 3 a.m.

In the end, they lacked the manpower to shock the world.

Along the way, however, USF made it a game against powerful Alabama for the second straight season.

The Bulls, heavy underdogs against the Tide, found themselves trailing 14-13 with 5:50 left to play  quarters and  and 21-16 after three quarters before Alabama ran away to a 42-16 victory.

All in all, it wasn’t a bad showing. A lot of teams lose by similar scores to the fourth-ranked Tide. Alabama won the final quarter 28-3.

Jalen Milroe threw for 194 yards and Jam Miller rushed for 140 to lead Alabama.

USF’s Byrum Brown threw for 103 yards and rushed for 108 to lead the Bulls.

USF plays on the road against Southern Miss Saturday at 4 p.m. 

Florida 45, Samford 7: No, it won’t kill the talk about replacing head coaches. For a week, however, the Florida Gators bought some time.

Florida won easily over Samford, but it was only 14-0 at the half.

Backup quarterback D.J. Lagway threw for 456 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Gators.Receivers Eugene Wilson III (141 yards) and  Elijah Badger (123) each had big days receiving for Florida.

Florida is home against Texas A&M at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Miami 56, Florida A&M 9: Cam Ward continued his blistering start Saturday, throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns to lead Miami’s big win.

Ward also ran for a touchdown as the Hurricanes rushed to 46-9 lead after three quarters.

Xavier Restrepo caught four passes for 104 yrds in the win.

Miami is home Saturday againt Ball State.
