Brown accounted for five TDs./KIM HUKARI

Sunday, 4 a.m.

You can count on him like music on the radio. You can count on him like sunset in the West. You can count on him like darkness in the night.

He is Byrum Brown, and he continues to be a monster.

Brown is on the verge of completing one of the finest runs that a quarterback has ever had at USF, and between Matt Grothe and Quinton Flowers and Marquel Blackwell and B.J. Daniels.

But 11 games into the season, you could make a strong argument for Brown. This year, he has eight wins. He 2,883 yards passing and 24 touchdowns. He has 904 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns.

He has become the face of his program.

Just check out his day against against Alabama-Birmingham Saturday afternoon. He threw for 353 yards and three scores in a 48-18 win. He ran for 63 yards and two more scores.

And, on a day when UAB was a bit testier than you might have thought, he absolutely would not let his team lose.

USF trailed 10-7 early, and UAB flirted with the end zone other times. The Blazers had 27 first downs.

But the Bulls ran up 544 yards of offense. Brown threw touchdown passes of six yards (Wyatt Sullivan), 60 yards (Mudia Reuben) and 59 yards (Reuben).

Reuben caught five passes for 174 yards. Running back Nykahi Davenport gained 121 yards.

The Bulls close out their regular season Saturday night against Rice at Raymond James Stadium at 7 p.m.

Miami 34, Virginia Tech 17: Quarterback Carson Beck led the Hurricanes to their ninth victory of the year.

The Canes, ranked 13th, were led by Beck's four touchdown passes and 320 yards through the air.

Malachi Toney caught 12 passes for 146 yards.

The Hurricanes play at Pitt Saturday.

Tennessee 31, Florida 11: This is how bad the Gators' season has become. The Gators can't even count on beating Tennessee these days.

Florida had won 17 of the last 20 games between the two teams, but Saturday night, the Vols jumped to a 31-0 lead and held on.

It was the Vols' first win over the Gators in Gainesville since 2003.

The Gators, 3-8, had a 42-yard completion called back because of a penalty, failed to pick up a first down on fourth-and-one, missed a field goal and botched a kickoff return and had to start at the 2.

The Gators scored the game's last 11 points. Jadan Baugh ran for 96 yards and caught a 33-yard scoring pass.

The Gators are home in the Swamp against FSU on Saturday.
